Research
My research interests lie in the areas of sustainable consumption and production, life cycle assessment as well as climate change mitigation and adaptation. I am mostly interested in the development of quantitative models for decision support. On the one hand I have devoted much of my attention to the analysis of greenhouse gas emissions associated with traded goods and services using large models with global coverage. On the other hand I have thought a lot about consumer emissions on very small spatial scales. This involves even larger data sets, because this requires the linking of very detailed local data sources into such global models. Most of this analysis we use to support local governments and cities in their climate mitigation efforts. In my remaining time I am currently trying to establish links between integrated climate change assessment and life cycle assessment models.
